After injecting $400-million in its Ohio sectors and tacking on a new shift at a plant in Indiana, Honda is continuing domestic expansion by pumping up production at its facility in Lincoln, Alabama. In order to reach an increased annual output of 340,000 vehicles and engines, the automaker will spend 84-million on the plant and add 100 more team members.

Alabama and other Honda expansions are part of an industry-wide push to increase America's automotive output. Market demand is on the rise as consumers recover from the 2008/2009 recession. In fact, company experts are predicting that national sales will hit 12.5- to 13-million vehicles for 2011. Facing this increased need, Honda displays the utmost poise. Ed Miller, a Honda spokesperson, says, "We're confident in our associates' ability to build the products Americans want."¹
