Few consumers would dispute the fact that our nation needs to cut back on negative environmental impact. However, many aren't yet willing to sacrifice extended driving range to do so. With many battery powered vehicles, such a sacrifice is necessary. Honda, however, has discovered a new green option and has been using it to fuel variants of the Honda Civic. That option comes in the form of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
Already available within the market, the Honda Civic CNG gets better range then EV's and hybrids with no cost to the environment. Of course, as with any alternative fuel, natural gas does have one slight downfall. Because Honda is the only OEM to offer a CNG model, necessary infrastructure is limited. Larry Hopkins isn't worried though. The automaker is introducing the vehicle to 36 states and as more of the models circulate, company officials expect fueling stations to increase as well. Already this phenomenon has occurred in states where the Civic CNG has been sold for some time now.
In addition to the increase in circulation of this alternative fuel, Larry Hopkins Honda would like to let you in on what is new for 2012's Civic CNG. Increasing connectivity, Bluetooth technology now comes standard as well as USB ports and a four-speaker audio system. In the name of fuel economy, Honda designers worked hard to bring down the vehicle's weight and bump up aerodynamics. The Civic CNG now gets a total drive range of 240-miles to a tank and a mpg rating of 27 city/30 hwy.
While a natural gas variant is not currently available at Larry Hopkins Honda, 1048 W. El Camino Real Sunnyvale, CA 94087, we encourage you to keep your eyes peeled because it could be coming soon! For now, feel free to check out the conventional gasoline-powered Honda Civic or the green Honda Civic Hybrid.
