Perhaps the only thing better than gaining recognition within the auto -industry is gaining it twice. Honda has recently accomplished just that. In its ninth annual report, the Carbon Disclosure Project commended Honda on its exceptional job disclosing information and highlighted the automaker as a "Carbon Performance Leader."
Every year the CDP, an independent non-profit established in the U.K., puts out a Global 500 Report with the backing of both European and U.S. governments as well as worldwide investors. With such support coming in from around the globe, the CDP list is one that companies certainly strive to make their mark on. Which is why Larry Hopkins Honda is pleased to announce that Honda hit the list hard.
Two categories make up the 2011 Global 500 Report. First, the "Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index" (CDLI) measures high-scorers in information disclosure- in this category Honda placed among the top 50, quite the honor considering the relatively large pool from which companies are drawn. Tag-teaming with the CDLI, comes CDP's "Carbon Performance Leadership Index." A newer list, the index is comprised of businesses which have displayed the greatest commitment to strategy, governance, stakeholder communications and emissions reduction in their CDP responses. For this index, Honda held its place among only 29 companies worldwide that were featured.
All of these rankings are impressive but perhaps the most important part is how they translate for customers. The easiest way to recognize the environmental efforts Honda has been acclaimed for comes in the form of an 'Ultra Low-Emission Vehicle' /'ULEV' decal displayed on such new Honda models as the Honda Accord or a 'Partial Zero-Emission Vehicle'/'PZEV' sticker shown on the Honda Civic.
